Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving

In a surprising collaboration that defies usual expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Revealed

According to the formal statement, "An unusual encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where rumors of banned practices and terrifying metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The narrative presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who charges the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine sect.

The adventure centers on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Transformations

The trailer highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the captive, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Additional Content

Players who finish the quest will obtain an unique katana in addition to several objects concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

  • Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
  • Mikasa outfit for Naoe
  • Unique implements
  • Survey Corps vehicle

Latest Free Story Content

This patch also brings the game's newest free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic techniques: Naoe introduces a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations

This signifies scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime series. The series formerly included a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that clearly nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
