Scientists monitored over 2,700 participants in São Paulo, Brazil to investigate how body measurements predicted cardiac health outcomes in relation to traditional measurements.

Despite every metric — weight-height ratio, waist measurement, and WHtR — were connected with heart disease risk in an unadjusted analysis, only WHtR continued as a standalone indicator after accounting for established health indicators, such as hypertension, increased cholesterol, and diabetes.
